Story- Greed Plays An Important Part?
Story- Greed Plays An Important Part?
“There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for
man's greed.”
- Mahatma Gandhi.
It is quite sad and
strange but is a reality too; people kill tigers, without realizing the
consequences they’ll face. They definitely know the fact that, if they take a
life of the tigers, they will straight away be behind bars for a lifetime as
killing a tiger is banned. Yet, they tend to do so. Why, why are they
performing such an act? What’s the reason behind it?
Poaching is one of the
most immediate threats to wild tigers. Tigers are illegally killed or poached
because their pelts are valuable in the black market.
They are killed for
their meat too. The demand for tiger skins and tiger bone wine
is booming as wealthy businessmen buy these goods to prove their wealth.
A man named Karan
lived a life of peace and made a decent living. He lived in the capital city of
India- New Delhi. He was wealthy and father of two cute children. However,
desire to earn more turned him towards poaching and he joined a sophisticated
and well-armed criminal gang.
Karan used various
techniques to trap tigers, he used steel traps, poisoned carcasses of a tiger's
prey to murder it and in the hot season, he used to dig shallow pools and fill
them with poisoned water.
However, the sad part
is, even the forest department members gave him a hand to perform this. How
could they do this? They definitely knew the fact, that there are chances of
these species getting extinct. Yet, he supported him.
Karan gave the forest
department, a huge sum of money. Greed and money meant everything even more
than their precious life.
Karan not only sold
parts of tigers but, also designed clothes out of its fur. He knew that,
Tibetans wear clothes of the tiger’s skin. Was he successful in it? Thankfully
not as His Holiness - Dalai Lama issued a decree against it.
How long can he do
this? Surely, if someone is committing offense he will be punished. It’s about
how early you get it. He continued his business for several years, but nobody
knew about his business. His neighbors were also clueless regarding it.
Once, there was a
wedding in his colony and his aunts and uncles came to his home to invite him.
As soon as they stepped in, all they could notice was tiger related things, be
it fur, bones, body parts and lot more! They were shocked at realizing this.
Soon, they rushed towards the nearby police station and registered a case.
Karan was put
behind bars. All the business he did so far was in vain. He had a huge amount
of loss and most importantly, lost his good impression. He fell in the eyes of
his children.
Out of this, he
certainly realized, greed leads to self- destruction. Do hard work, be
determined, dedicated and satisfied with honest earning.
