Leadership, A Strong Will!
A Strong Leader
Please Check Out The Video...
Well, I think a leader is never born rather, a leader is made
during a process!
We all are aware of the qualities of a Strong & Powerful
Leader, but why is it that, despite this fact, only a handful of individuals
come out as strong leaders? What is it? - is the question...Let us find
out!
Let me start up by telling something
about my leadership style and how exactly I managed to take decisions. I as an
ordinary teenager was not sure regarding the fact that if I become a leader at
some point in time, will I be able to make sound decisions, will I be able to
give proper guidance and direction to people around me, etc. However, I was
very aware of the fact and somehow, I had that instinct within myself that yes,
I would certainly manage to be a good and strong leader.
The journey began as I became a Social Service Prefect in my school. Initially, I could not believe that I have been selected for this post! I was delighted but at the same time anxious and nervous too thinking about the future.
I was facilitated with the badge up on
the stage and it certainly was a proud moment and a moment to remember for me!
The roller coaster ride began, and it
was the time for me to execute my skills and prove just to myself that yes, I
am capable of this. Honestly, the first thing we conducted while I was in this
post, I felt anxious. But, managed somehow...
As the journey passed by, I started taking the right decisions, learning from my past mistakes and ensuring that I never commit the same one soon. I was stubborn with myself.
I still remember the one day in which I
feel I was able to come forward and expressed my thoughts freely, it was that
day went we as a Social Service Club visited 'AASARA'- an old age home. The
fact which made me even more engrossed in this way, maybe, I am more of a
person who is attached more towards the elderly, helping them in the smallest
of ways and I really could connect with their emotions! Maybe that was the
force within me, which drove me like anything by helping them for whatever may
be possible!
In today’s competitive world, leadership
skills are crucial for both personal and professional development. Leadership
is an important function of management that helps an individual or a business
to maximize efficiency and to achieve goals. Leadership has different meanings
to various authors.
Most commonly, leadership is the
influence, that is, the art of influencing people so that they will strive
willingly and enthusiastically toward the achievement of group goals.
Leadership is the process of influencing the activities of either formal or
informal groups in the task of goal setting and goal achievement. A leader is
one whose magnetic personality innervates people for some cause.
People require good leadership skills at
a personal, professional and social levels. Personal leadership helps us to determine
our desires, strengths, and abilities. It means knowing what we want out of
life; knowing what success is for us; what are our goals and how to achieve
those goals regardless of what other people think, say, or do. Personal
leadership helps us to make our present better and shape a good future.
Good leadership is also important to run
a business. Usually, in companies, management stresses more on decision- making
skills. They believe a timely and smart decision will help their company to
succeed. They forget that the implementation of those decisions is as important
as making those decisions. Without proper implementation, there will be no
results. Like there is a saying that, it is easier to said than done.
Similarly, deciding will change nothing,
it is how to get things done in a timely and effective way that will help an
organization to accomplish its goals. Leadership is crucial in implementing
decisions correctly and successfully.
It is the time to witness two of the
most powerful leaders which I feel are in my eyes and what extraordinary steps
did they take as a leader that separated them from others and hence, are
remembered forever- (a brief description.)
Real-Life Examples of Good Leadership-
Mahatma Gandhi was an excellent example of a
good leader. He was a staunch believer in non-violence. With his brilliant
Leadership skills, he made the British leave India. Probably, this was the most
unique independence struggle. This is because Gandhi got freedom without any
violence.
Abraham Lincoln was another notable leader.
Most noteworthy, he ended the slavery system in The United States.
Consequently, he made many enemies. However, he was a man of massive
self-confidence. His struggle against slavery certainly became an inspiration.
To conclude, I feel, Leadership is required in probably every sphere of
life. Good leadership is the door to success. In contrast, bad leadership is a
guarantee of failure. Consequently, good leaders are what make the world go
around.
"Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there
is no path and leave a trail."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson.
