Failure Is Certainly A Bitter Medicine, But We
Have To Accept It & Move On!
Please Check Out The Video...
The word “Failure” sounds bitter and harsh every time you hear
it, doesn’t it? However, it is a reality in everyone's life at some point in
time. In this world where we are all running a rat race, humans are busy
competing without realizing the fact that while doing so, several obstacles and
hurdles will come and go but... we must keep on moving and moving. Moreover,
everyone wants just to hear good about themselves, and most of the time they do
things just for the sake of recognition and appreciation; that is what I feel.
But we, as humans, forget that every person has their own point of view to
express and he/she has the freedom to express his/her thoughts and emotions on
any given thing. As a result, whenever someone does not appreciate a thing or
gives their suggestions to improve it, we make it a very big picture in our
heads and consider it as a failure and hence, stop trying then.
Well, I have personally dealt with several failures in my life.
However, now as an 18-year old, I have figured out several ways to deal with
and get over this big heavy word- 'FAILURE.' So instead of telling you all
about my obstacles, hurdles, and failures, I would be more than happy to share
how I dealt with the failures in my life.
Firstly, 'Give yourself permission to move on.' Academics deals
with mental strength, so a proper mentality plays a big part in achieving
academic goals. Instead of judging yourself on past shortcomings, focus instead
on how you will feel when you have mastered the areas that give you trouble.
Secondly, 'Adopt a proper mindset.' People tend to look at
themselves as being academic “successes” or “failures,” and not people with
discrete problems in an area. Failure and success are both conditions, which
means that they are thought of as encompassing long periods of time. Define
what success means to you and let that be your guide.
- Instead
of thinking of it as a failure, think of it as a challenge or simply said and conceived by most people a problem. Problems are there to be solved; a problem can be fixed. Most importantly, everyone has problems, even the most successful people.
Now that you know you have a challenge/problem in hand, become a
part of a solution, start your journey to look for a solution.
- Consider
whether you need to adjust your expectations. Ask yourself what your priorities are and how good you are let us say at academics; If you think academics are not your strength, consider adjusting your goals to; your strengths.
Thirdly, 'Cultivate a successful identity.' Failures and
successes become part of peoples’ identities. Many who have struggled in school
have adopted an identity of themselves as a failure. If a person identifies as
a failure, then success becomes contrary to their nature.
- If
you think you might have adopted a failure identity, then the; first step is to practice self-compassion. Stop thinking of yourself as a failure and think about yourself as a person with a solvable problem. The existence of a problem is neutral with respect to success and failure.
A problem is an opportunity because how a person responds to a problem is what creates success or failure.
- Remember
that you can be intelligent in more than one area. Many people have intelligence in some areas and deficiencies in others. Think about the areas of intelligence where you could be successful.
Believing in Yourself
You must expect things of yourself before you
can do them.
It always seems impossible until it is done.
Do not let what you cannot do interfere with
what you can do.
All The Best! Do well, and do not hesitate. It is as much
of your world as it is of others. Move On!
