The Pursuit of
Happiness...
A movie that has
inspired and motivated millions and continues to do so. It features a man
-Chris Gardner played by actor Will Smith, struggles a lot in his life. It
highlights a warm relationship between him and his son. He is a hardworking
entrepreneur and faces many hardships and has no money to pay for even a decent
living. He invests his life savings in portable bone-density scanners but
realizes that they are hard to sell. His relationship with his wife is strained
too. He meeting with Jay Twistle, the manager of Dean Witter Reynolds earns him
a chance to become an intern stockbroker. Life was never easy for Chris Gardner
and he learned the value of the word pursuit, ‘The pursuit of Happiness.’
The characters are
believable as the movie deals with the daily challenges of a common man. The
dialogues during his interview for internship are gripping, as he makes up for
his shabby appearance by his witty and clever answers.
The cast played a vital
role. Each part of the acting was superb, especially Chris Gardner’s lead role.
Movie setups and locations were mesmerizing. The costumes were simple and apt.
The leading star is the well-known Will Smith of ‘Men in Black.’
The camera shots, taken
from multiple angles, bring us close to the storyline. The sound effects are
realistic. The songs “life keeps on moving and other songs like, “don’t move
the mountain” are inspiring. Right music at the right time adds magic.
Dialogues will blow
your mind away and this one-, “don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t
do something. Not even me. You gotta dream, you gotta protect it. When people cannot
do something for themselves, they are gonna tell you that you cannot do it. You
want something go get it. Period,” you may want to listen to umpteen number of
times. Other dialogues like, “Hey dad, you wanna hear something
funny-----sent you two boats you dummy!”,
“Wealth can also be that attitude of
gratitude---- every day to count our blessings,” “walk that walk and go
forward all the time----- baby steps counted too. Go
forward,” “Still a dreamer, yet more of a realist than ever
before--------I was ready,” “The future was uncertain, absolutely, and there
were many hurdles, twists, and turns to come--------- the voices of fear and
shame, the messages from those who wanted me to believe that I wasn't good
enough would be stilled.”
